# State / city image licensing

State/city card images use Wikimedia Commons photographs with explicit free licenses (CC0 / Creative Commons). Previous unattributed assets are retained under _licensed_src/previous/ for reference only and are not used by the site.

Prefer CC0 or Creative Commons licenses that allow commercial use. CC BY / CC BY-SA images require attribution (recorded below and linked from the UI).
